The Grade 7 classrooms at the John Masiza School were crumbling, rusty and a health risk. Their soccer field was in disrepair and the enthusiastic netball players had nowhere to practice or play.
Together with Lasher Tools, Cricket South Africa , Snackworx and PPC cement, Touch Africa was able to renovate the classrooms, repair the soccer facilities and provide a netball court.
The children of the school used to play in the dusty streets of the urban township, they now have first class facilities and are enjoying their new grandstand and sports facilities on a daily basis.
Their excitement was palpable the day of the reveal and the sentiments clearly expressed by the young girls, who said “we are so happy, now we do not need to be ashamed anymore, we can invite other schools to come and play matches here”.
What a joy it is to be able to provide such a simple fix. Your investment in providing sporting facilities and classrooms for these children will have an impact on them for the rest of their lives.
